Historia
The beginning of Rotaryism in the current district 4100 occurs with the creation of the Rotary Club of Tijuana on October 31, 1931 and continues with the creation of new clubs in the northern cities of Baja California and Sonora, continuing with Nogales, Cd Obregón, Hermosillo, Mexicali, Ensenada, Los Mochis, Guaymas and Navojoa, later extending to Baja California Sur and the State of Sinaloa. It is worth mentioning that in 1931 the district had the nomenclature of 410 and it was in 1978 when it was assigned the number of 4100. In 1978, the first governor of district 4100, Alfonso de La Parra of the Tijuana Rotary Club, was appointed.
From 1930 to June 30, 2014, 79 clubs have been formed, of which 20 have left. For July 1, 2014, the loss increases with the suspension of the Mexicali club, adding a total of 21 clubs, with 59 clubs remaining active. The district is made up of 4 states of the Mexican Republic: Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora and North Sinaloa, with a population of 6,689,826 inhabitants, with a presence of 1,130 Rotary members, equivalent to 5,962 inhabitants per Rotarian. Of the clubs in the district, one has more than 65 members (2%), 10 have a membership between 26 and 65 (18%), 24 have between 15 and 24 members (42%), and 22 have fewer than 15 members (39 %). The states of Baja California and Baja California Sur make up the peninsula and are separated from the states of Sonora and Sinaloa by the Gulf of California.
In the Baja California peninsula, the road distance between Los Cabos and Tijuana is 1,650 km and in the states of Sinaloa and Sonora, the distance between the furthest clubs is between Guamúchil Sinaloa to San Luis R.C. Sonora of 1,055 km. Therefore, for visits to clubs by the District Governor and the holding of training events and conferences, air transportation predominates. The election of governors of district 4100 has followed a rotating policy, where practically all cities have had the opportunity to have a governor. The Pas governors are constituted in the Council of Governors, who with sensitivity and responsibility, support the proper management of the district, contributing their experience and commitment to Rotary.
Presence of 1,130 Rotary members
Recently in 2021, under the governorship of Octavio Sánchez Ramonetti, 15 clubs from the north of Sinaloa joined the district, giving a total of 75 active clubs, now leaving the 4100 of Rotary International in four complete states, Baja California, Baja California South, Sonora and Sinaloa.
