In 2019 the annual chili cookoff evolved to a Chili and Pozole Cookoff. Pozole is a hominy based traditional Mexican special occasion soup. Pozole was a big hit, making up over half the entrants and winning the people’s choice award. Participants can sample a variety of pozole and chili, participate in silent and live auctions, and listen to live music. Entrants compete to win the coveted designations of Best Chili, Best Pozole, People’s Choice Chili and Pozole as well as prizes for best booth and costume.

February 25th, 2024
The Pig Races are a much-anticipated local tradition. Naming rights to the racing pigs are sold in advance of the event so that pigs with silly names like Jamón Campeón and Chris P Bacon sprint (or not) down the zip lined track. Spectators have the opportunity to bet on their favorite pig in advance of each race. This event has something for everyone with 50/50 raffle, hog calling, local food vendors, and world famous Bloody Mary’s.

March 4-8, 2024
The fishing tournament activities take place over three days. Day 1 is registration, raffle, and Calcutta auction of the boats. Day 2 is fishing and weigh-in day. Day 3 is the awards ceremony and banquet. Anyone is invited to join in on the fish dinner banquet feast. The club has also sponsored multiple kids’ river fishing tournaments.

April 7th, 2024
The Duck Races began in 2019 as a special event to raise money to replace the Health Clinic roof. It has since been adopted as an annual fundraiser for the club. Everyone is encouraged to buy one or many (rubber) ducks for 100 pesos and watch the numbered ducks race the river. The winning duck owners are rewarded with fabulous prizes. There is also a special duck race just for kids for an opportunity to win a giant inflatable duck.
